Root Down

Root Down, is our 501(c)(3) non-profit that focuses on empowering youth through environmental stewardship, nature awareness and cultivating a relationship to good food. The program, offered to Livingston youth, provides hands-on experiences in agriculture (traditional & aquaponic), outdoor skills, horsemanship, camping, and a deeper connection to themselves, their community and the environment.

Park High and Sleeping Giant Aquaponic Systems

We designed and built two aquaponics systems in Livingston, Montana's local middle and high schools. These living classrooms provide a dynamic place for students to engage in hands-on learning in the Sciences as well as develop an appreciation for growing food and the complex, biological processes that make up our world. The schools' science, agriculture, horticulture, shop, and literature programs use the spaces for colorful, live learning opportunities. The high school has even raised rainbow and cutthroat trout for a Trout to Tray program they started!
